FAMILY

Music has been the key to unlocking dad's zest for life!

Kate is a godsend for our family. Kate has worked through all of our technology issues to be able to provide her services virtually during this time of social isolation. She has lightened the load for me as the primary caregiver for my 91 year dad with dementia, providing me with needed respite. But more importantly, she’s provided my dad with critically needed social interactions (with someone other than me!) during this time of isolation and loss of meaningful activity.  He really looks forward to “meeting” with Kate. After each session, my dad exclaims, “Kate is so good!”

"She is definitely worth it. We sing together and talk about everything."

STAFF

Kate was special that way, always doing what was best for the residents.

Kate and I met when she worked as the Life Enrichment Coordinator on the locked Dementia/Alzheimer's unit where I was the nursing assistant. Kate spent a lot of time to get to know the residents and their needs. At the time we worked together we had a very active musical group. The residents enjoyed singalongs and just listening to her play the guitar or piano.

She also led baking groups, reminiscing about their lives, bingo, etc… Kate planned out her days on a daily basis depending on the needs or moods of the residents each day. We would gather our residents and take them outside for a picnic lunch while they enjoyed her music. She would do 1:1’s with anyone who needed it.

She made my days fun to be at work and I really respect her for the care and quality of life she provided to the residents with her talent and compassion to make the residents happy.
